Water Extraction in Minneapolis

Water extraction is the physical removal of standing or recoverable water from flooring, basements and other affected areas. It is different from structural drying: extraction removes bulk water, while drying addresses moisture held inside materials.

Why extraction comes first

Drying equipment is more effective after the largest amount of liquid water has been removed. Extraction can also reveal wet boundaries and help determine whether carpet, pad, flooring or other materials can be dried or need additional work.

What affects the scope?

Surface type, water depth, room layout, material saturation, contamination category and how long the water has been present all change the response. A basement with carpet pad behaves differently from a hard-surface utility room.
